Bhiwandi to Become Asia’s Biggest Logistics Hub.
The Maharashtra government has taken a bold step toward transforming Bhiwandi into Asia’s leading logistics hub by setting up a special committee dedicated to planning and execution. The committee will include officials from the Industries and Urban Development Department and Bhiwandi East MLA Rais Shaikh, Industries Minister Uday Samant announced in the Legislative Assembly. Bhiwandi already plays a pivotal role in India’s supply chain ecosystem. With this new initiative, the government aims to elevate Bhiwandi’s position on the global logistics map.During the discussion in the Assembly, MLA Rais Shaikh drew the government’s attention to developing Bhiwandi as a logistics hub. 60 villages and Bhiwandi city together have an area of 144 square kilometers, which is 30 percent of Mumbai. If the government is serious about this issue, Bhiwandi will have the biggest share in making the state’s $1 trillion economy,” said MLA Rais Shaikh in the Legislative Assembly.
